Jim Bates of Las Cruces is a lifelong resident of southern New Mexico. He holds a degree in wildlife science from NMSU and has been involved with many local, state, and national conservation organizations over the last 35 years, serving in leadership roles in many of them. Jim is a strong advocate for sportsmen’s issues, with his major concerns being public-lands access for sportsmen and other recreational users, and reform of the big game hunting permit allotment system to make it fair and equitable to all New Mexico hunters.
