Sophie Shemas

Public Lands Fellow

Sophie is a recent graduate of the University of Cincinnati, having earned her Bachelor of Science in Environmental Studies with minors in Anthropology and Biology. During her time at UC, Sophie discovered a passion for all aspects of sustainability, taking special interest in the intersectionality of social and environmental issues. This led to her involvement and leadership in several student organizations that helped shape university policy around sustainability, gender equity, diversity, and student affairs. Having lived in Ohio her entire life, Sophie is excited to work alongside her new community and to explore, enjoy, and help protect the vast public lands of New Mexico.
