To mark the end of the Interior Department’s review period of 27 national monuments, the New Mexico Wildlife Federation will host a press event with Senator Martin Heinrich, representatives from Senator Tom Udall and Congresswoman Michelle Lujan Grisham’s offices, and local elected officials and business owners to discuss the importance of our national monuments to New Mexico.
New Mexico’s newest national monuments, Rio Grande del Norte and Organ Mountains Desert Peaks, are both on the list of monuments being reviewed. These monuments enjoy widespread support throughout the state and are crucial areas for wildlife. Both monuments connect us to our shared cultural heritage, and provide opportunities for all Americans to recreate in the outdoors.
