Albuquerque, NM – On Monday, August 13, 2018 at 10:00 am, tribal, conservation, and community leaders will join Congresswoman Michelle Lujan Grisham (NM-01) at the Indian Pueblo Cultural Center to highlight the recent introduction of the U.S. House version of the ANTIQUITIES Act 2018, which would preserve opportunities for hunting, tourism, scientific research, conservation, and cultural uses in national monuments and protect them against any potential future attacks by the Trump Administration.
The bill would give presidentially declared monuments the same protection as congressionally declared monuments; move the Bears Ears National Monument boundary to the tribal proposed boundary; establish wilderness areas in the Rio Grande del Norte and Organ Mountains-Desert Peaks National Monuments; and establish wilderness areas inside of Gold Butte National Monument in Nevada.
Join us in celebrating our national monuments and public lands.
