ALBUQUERQUE: The New Mexico Wildlife Federation (NMWF) applauds the citizens of New Mexico for taking such an active role in the 2018 midterm elections and casting their votes to decide the future leaders of our state. NMWF congratulates all the winners of Tuesday night’s election and we look forward to working with our new elected officials, as well as those who won reelection.
The hard-fought campaigns touched on many important issues but the New Mexico Wildlife Federation was especially glad to see candidates discuss the importance of protecting public lands, our waters, and embracing a renewable energy future. Keeping our public lands open to all and conserving our resources for future generations is the responsibility of all New Mexicans and we are glad these issues featured prominently in this election cycle.
“NMWF aims to protect New Mexico’s wildlife, habitat, and public land for future generations,” said Acting Executive Director Todd Leahy. “Throughout this campaign candidates kept these issues as top priorities, including reauthorizing and funding the Land and Water Conservation Fund, defending our national monuments, and promoting New Mexico’s recreation economy. We look forward to working with all elected officials at the federal, state, and local levels to continue to fight for New Mexico’s outdoor traditions.”
On behalf of our 80,000 members, NMWF congratulates all the winners.
