ALBUQUERQUE – The New Mexico Wildlife Federation is dedicated to connecting children with the outdoors and fighting nature deficit disorder. To that end, we are excited to bring children from across New Mexico on a float trip on the Rio Grande with Representatives Ben Ray Lujan and Michelle Lujan Grisham. The day will be a great opportunity for children to experience the outdoors firsthand, and connect with their elected officials.
The float trip will begin in Pilar and the group will exit the river two to three hours later at the County Line. Representatives Lujan and Lujan Grisham will make remarks at the end of the trip and lunch will also be provided.
“So many children in Albuquerque don’t get the opportunity to experience the outdoors,” said New Mexico Wildlife Federation Executive Director Garrett Vene Klasen. “But given the opportunity, children light up and have a meaningful experience when they get outside. That’s why we are excited to take children from Albuquerque out onto the river to experience the nature in their own backyard. We are also very excited that Representatives Ben Ray Lujan and Michelle Lujan Grisham will be joining us to see first-hand how important it is to protect our outdoor places for this next generation.”
